“Happy Birthday to my baby Sister”. |
August 19thI call into my mountain friend Christines place on the way to morning coffee. She generously left me a big container of Parsley plants. After 18 years my parsley didn't return. It usually is recurring but finally gave it up. So these are a welcome gift. I love wandering out and picking my own fresh herbs.A blue super moon tonight. As soon as it's in the sky the local dogs start howling. A bit spooky as Dame Edna would say. It lights up the night sky, I don't need a torch to head to the office, it's bright enough outside. August 20thMy alarm wakes me, I'm usually awake before that happens, I guess I needed the sleep. It's hope the charity appreciates me climbing out of my very warm bed.Paul at the petrol station gives me a free coffee and double Qantas points on my fuel. So that's good. The crew are in fine form today, lots of laughter and we focus on the job at hand. I was going to be good and budget but what the hell, we have dinner at Duddley's tonight. Not many people and we get our usual seat. I spot a young fox galloping up a side road on the way home. It's been awhile since I've seen a fox on the run up here. How could I resist singing that song by The Sweet. August 21stOvercast, the weather is four season in one day. I pop on my new ancient Ray Bans when the sunshine arrives. Two girls go past and say "Wow cool glasses man". They are indeed. I am that cool older dude that your parents warned you about.I pay a few bills today, car rego all done, so debt free again. I mail Sis a few vouchers for her birthday, she pretty much has everything so vouchers are handy. Markys Youtube Wednesday is a good one today. Our beloved Split Enz. Three songs (audio) from the Enz With A Bang concerts in Melbourne -November 1984. The frantic "Shark Attack" , and Paul Hester has his Enz moment with "This Is Massive". So lovely to hear Paul's voice, makes me both sad and happy at the same time. Finishing with "History Never Repeats". Some of Marks awesome live photos are scattered in the clip. Anyway this is very cool, sounds great and you can check it out here. So Trump calls his supporters "basement dwellers" . No surprise, not rich enough for him but he'll happily take their money. Such suckers. I just hope people don't get too cocky around the upcoming USA election. People need to get out and vote to stop vileTrump. Let's hope it happens. Vote! Vote! Vote! August 22ndWe are watching the "Roswell-First Witness" documentary. A good find by Marky on SBS. Suddenly the Roswell incident fascinates me again.I heard the Scissor Sisters "I don't feel like dancin'" on the radio at work, it's funny watching people grooving around the store. Great fun song, I never knew that it went to #1 in Australia, impressive. August 23rdI should watch the "Omar + Cedric- If this ever gets weird" documentary. Some friends have said that it's good one.Lots of flight hopping over the next few days, so crazily busy and probably no time to scrawl in my diary. I usually add something into it every day. August 24thI miss my bed, and not much sleep. I went for an early morning jog, the weather is a bit warmer than Kalorama. So that's nice. I can't wait for Spring to arrive in the hills. We have all been feeling the chill this year.August 25thI win $9.70 on Tattslotto. I rarely buy a ticket but hey every so often. So I basically win 2 cups of coffee. When I'm back we are going to cancel Foxtel, well and truly over it after all of these years. They keep removing entire channels-Foxtel now sucks. A friend of mine says I need to check out Xavier Rudds "White Moth" album. Like me she loves the Jan Juc Moon record. August 26thNice to be home, am tired. I arrived during a massive storm, huge hail stones hit the red beast and the rain is bucketing down. Trees are falling down onto the tourist road but the red beast keeps on heading upwards. Home safe and sound. An interesting result of polls here in Australia conducted by Talbot Mills Research. If Aussies voted Harris would get 48% of the vote, Trump 27%. 14% wouldn't vote at all. Off course brain dead One Nation voters support Trump here, but thankfully in this country One Nation get a pissy 5% of the vote. The Peter Green Gryphons Can Dance Party would get more than 5%!!! August 27thFree coffee and double Qantas points at my Petrol station, again. Keeping all our hopes alive … free is good.I fill the back of the red beast with empty boxes for the other Peter and Mark so they can start their packing before the house is on the market. Means less in our recycle bin too so that is good for the charity. Spoke to Telstra and cancelled Foxtel, it feels rather liberating . Mark has massive list of cool stuff to watch via the new system he has, about ten times what was on Foxtel and best part , it is FREE. A polar blast hits tonight, more extreme wind and some rain. I hear trees crashing down in the distance, a few go through peoples houses up here. We are safe. August 28thMarkys Youtube Wednesday is a favourite of mind. The Finn Brothers performing "Astronaut" for the very first time. Two years later it became "Astro" on Neils "Try Whistling This" record. This is the only time the Finns performed it on the Aussie tour. February 14th 1996. Dallas Brookes Hall (the second show). Such a fine version too. So make the effort to check this one out, it is great.August 29thI call my sister up early from the car park at the charity and sing Happy Birthday to her. She loves the presents we sent her. We are so lucky to have this amazing woman in our lives. So proud of her.Sadly though, Sis's birthday also means another year has gone by around the death of our Skyhooks lead singer Shirley Strachan. Shirls been gone for 23 years now. Such a unique front man and oh boy what a voice. RIP Shirl. I get loads done at the charity today, I squash in 3 days of work into one day. I think the boss is very happy with me, which is nice. So the upcoming Paul Kelly album "Fever Longing Still" will be out on November 1st and it's on coloured vinyl. The orange marble vinyl looks pretty cool. Some more dates have been announced for his USA Tour so head to the Paul Kelly website and check them out. If you have never seen PK live before , do it now, his shows are wonderful. You can pre order the limited edition vinyl at JB HIFI. August 30th38 years ago today, the Crowded House album debuts at #196 in America (1986). For those first few months it only achieved one lone gold record in Australia. New Zealand ignored it totally. Months later "Don't Dream It's Over" took off and it ended up selling several million. In Australia we went from one Gold (35,000) to 5 times platinum (350,000+). A million seller in America. In many ways it changed our lives, all of us.I cancel on my friend Ian this morning, he was going to chainsaw the final bit of the fallen tree but too muddy and rain last night, we'll try again next week. Nice that he is doing this. He is a good bloke. Good ol' music page Noise 11-bless them, they gave the Finn Bros "Astronaut" release a nice post on their pages. It ends ip being the most "liked" post for August , of all the music post they have put up. In July we had the most "likes" for our stage costumes at the Arts Centre. Which is great as it means we return the favour and people are going to their page. Anyway thanks Paul C for the support. August 31stIt's a bit of a weird Saturday, I have 20 things on a little list and manage to do all of them, real nothing things. The final sees me on a tall ladder cleaning some micro mould off the loungeroom roof -not complete but I'm doing this in segments, we do it every few years. The joys of living in a national park.Is it possible to have sex too much? OK that's all I am saying. HA! September 1stHappy Father's Day to all the Dads out there. We are cat dads, does that count? I guess so, Midnight rewarded us by letting us sleep in.We call lovely Laura and sing Happy Birthday. Off course Australia Post are super slack and her card and present didn't arrive on time. They really are a terrible service. I bait some Trump supporters on line, I couldn't help myself. What sort of arsehole would like Donald Trump. Ugh! Today's Ipsos Poll has Harris at 45 to Trump 41 nationwide. It's good but the Hillary Polling all those years ago always makes everyone non believers till it happens. I get a Disaster call from a girl I know and she tells me that they have gone ahead and opened the emergency Evacuation centre at Derwent Valley Sports Centre in New Norfolk in Tasmania. Heavy rains batter Nth Western Tasmania. 30,000 with no power . We are all keeping our eyes on it, the next 48 hrs are crucial. Split Enz "Murder' creeps past 9400 views. It was so frustrating we needed just one view so I went cap in hand and begged a few mates to watch it. A minute later we were at 9405. I figure 10,000 is my final goal, yes I think I said that at 3000. I love that so many mates have shared our cool little clip. So that is it, now back to Sex. Joking! All the best PG. |
